Coach Mike Machado | Head Football Coach, Teacher, Getting High School & Youth Sports Back Playing

March 04, 2021 Blain Smothermon & Eric Hearn Episode 14

Coach Mike Machado is entering his 17th year of coaching football and 11th year teaching. Coach Machado and many other coaches, players and parents in CA have been vocal about getting all youth and high school sports back playing, citing the negative effects the lack of athletics has had on our kids. Mike Machado has coached at Tulare Western, Mission Oak, Porterville High School, El Capitan (Merced) and Mt. Whitney. He recently spent 3 seasons as Head Football Coach for the Porterville Panthers, where he rebuilt the program from a (2-8) record too back to back playoff appearances in 2018 and 2019, going a combined 20-14 in three seasons with the program. Coach Machado has been known to run a wide-open offense that scores quick and often. This past year Machado returned to his old stopping grounds at Mission Oak High School in Tulare, CA being named the Head Football Coach, where he previously spent time as a former Hawks assistant under Mark Gambini. This decision, Machado says, was a personal decision to spend more time with his two children.
